Chapter 10: The Prize

You won’t get Uncommon Sense from a book or learn it in a weekend. All this form of communication can do is give you information. Information is not knowledge. To turn information into knowledge you have to put the information to use. Even gathering information is not enough to form an understanding. There are obstacles to your understanding and you have to remove those obstacles first. Removing those obstacles to your understanding is what this process is about. Uncommon Sense is a quality of mind that comes removing obstacles to your understanding, this is how you deepen your perception.

Uncommon sense is a quality of mind that comes from allowing yourself to evolve in the field of time. Here is some advice on the process. No one can do what they are not able that means you will have to go back to the basics, to become able. Can you challenge yourself to go back to first principles? You are going to need to start with the basic skills: active listening and critical thinking. This means taking some courses even if you believe you are an expert. There is always something to learn and improve upon. Remember thinking is a skill not a talent. Thinking is not a gift. Thinking is a skill. Repetition is the mother of skill. You get the skill of thinking from first learning how and then from practice. You are never to old to learn. You are never to good to improve. You are never done. This is why it is called a practice and not a perfect. Practice until you get it right and then practice until you can’t get it wrong. Give up being clever and start being smart. You cannot fake your way through that. Actively rip up and root out larceny in your heart. Larceny is the belief that you can figure out the angle to get something more for giving less. Nothing could be more stupid than that idea. There is no such thing as free, there is no such thing as something for nothing, there is no such things as unicorns. Get rid of that junk value. It is a vicious lie. No matter how much you want to believe that, just accept that you simply wrong. You have been wrong your whole life. Everything has a price. The faster you pay the price the sooner you get the prize. You only get what you give. You get out of things what you put into them. Find out what it is and just pay it. To succeed is easy, find out what to do and then just do it. Don’t argue with it, just do it. Pay the price because If you fake it you will never make it. The next core value change is to accept that you are a social organism. However, you need to make a choice about your social environment. Garbage in. Garbage out. The brain is literally a sponge. Whatever you soak it in, will come out when you squeeze it. Finally, start asking the right questions. The question isn’t why, the question is how. Use reason as a means to knowledge. Let go of the ideal self, the reflection and embrace the authentic self. Allow yourself to evolve because it is a natural part of your existence. Do this and you will get an uncommon sense. It works 100% for those who give 100%.

The core values of an Uncommon Sense is accepting that: You can’t keep what you have, which is ignorance and get what you want, which is knowledge. You have to pay the price. You can’t have known what you didn’t know. All that matters is what you are going to do next. No one can do what they are not able. *H.O.W.* you become able is through an unflinching self-Honesty, an un-opinionated Openness and a fearless Willingness, to do what it takes. Cultivating these core values in your daily live will give you an Uncommon Sense. Let me say it again, it works 100% for those who give 100%.

No one can give you an uncommon sense. How you get one cannot be said it can only be done. This book is not a destination. It is a point of departure. Uncommon Sense, the book, is about sitting down and preparing for that journey by making some hard choices. It is about digging out those junk values and filling in some of the holes in your perception. This kind of mental preparation is invaluable. The adventurer, Samuel Brady, wrote “To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail. Shorten the path to success by lengthening the hours of preparation.” The purpose of this book is to encourage you to mentally prepare and embrace the change. The Roman philosopher Seneca said that luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. The secret to success is that there is no secret. If you are serious about making a lasting change in your life then what you need is an uncommon sense.

All that is left you to do now, is to choose, what you are going to do with what you now know.
